About Myakka City
Myakka City is an unincorporated community in southeastern Manatee County, along State Road 70 east of Bradenton. It has its own post office and the ZIP code 34251, and county services come from Manatee County.
The town was laid out in 1915 by Frank Earl Knox, who named it Myakka City to tell it apart from the older settlement of Old Miakka to the west. Sawmills, turpentine and farming built the early town, and much of the land around it is still ranches, groves and large acreage parcels.
Soleta Golf Club, a private club with a Nick Price course and 93 homesites along the Myakka River, opened here in December 2024. Publix at Fruitville Farms is about 16 miles from Soleta, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport about 27 miles, and Siesta Key Beach about 29 miles.
