Placida Harbour Club sits on the Intracoastal Waterway at 11000 Placida Road in Placida, in the southwest corner of Charlotte County, on the mainland across the water from Little Gasparilla Island. It is a gated club community made up of three parts: the Placida Harbour condominiums on the mainland, the Placida Beach condominiums on Little Gasparilla Island, and the single-family homes of Placida Pointe. The Harbour buildings hold two, three and four bedroom condominiums built from the early 1980s to the mid 1990s, many with views over the Intracoastal Waterway and the boat basin. Homes sold from about $530,000 to $1.5 million in the last two years. The club reports new metal roofs on all Harbour buildings in 2024, fresh paint the same year and elevator upgrades in many buildings. Walkways run around the harbor and along the seawall.

The club keeps a main clubhouse, now being remodeled with a larger fitness center, and two more clubhouses with heated pools, along with tennis and pickleball courts and a deep-water boat basin that is being rebuilt with 71 new concrete slips. Its own ferry runs several times a day to Placida Beach on Little Gasparilla Island, about 10 minutes away, where members have a beach clubhouse and pool. Placida Road leads north to Cape Haze and Englewood, and the Boca Grande Causeway to Gasparilla Island also starts in Placida.

How is Placida Harbour Club organized?

Placida Harbour Club, Inc. runs the shared club facilities for three communities: Placida Harbour, the condominiums on the mainland; Placida Beach, beachfront condominiums on Little Gasparilla Island; and Placida Pointe, single-family homes. Each has its own association documents under the club. This page covers the Placida Harbour condominiums on the mainland. How do owners get to the beach?

The club runs its own ferry from the boat basin to Placida Beach on Little Gasparilla Island, a ride of about 10 minutes, several times a day. At the island dock members can use the Placida Beach Clubhouse with its pool, kitchen and storage for beach gear. Little Gasparilla Island has about seven miles of beach reached only by boat.

Can I keep a boat here?

Yes. The community has a deep-water boat basin with docks equipped with power and water. The harbor is being rebuilt with a new retaining wall, dredging and 71 new concrete slips. Docks and slips are leased rather than sold, so ask the club about availability, fees and the waiting list for the boat you plan to keep.

What work has been done on the buildings recently?

The club reports that all Harbour condominium roofs were replaced in 2024 with metal roofs, double strapped to the trusses, and that the buildings were painted in 2024 and elevators are being upgraded in many of them. A renovation of the main clubhouse, the beach pier and clubhouse on Little Gasparilla, landscaping and street repaving is underway. Ask for the milestone inspection, the structural integrity reserve study and any special assessments.

Can condos be rented?

Rentals are allowed with limits. Club rules set a minimum rental of one month at Placida Harbour, with shorter stays permitted only at Placida Beach, and the board approves leases and renewals. Confirm the current rules for the specific unit before you buy.
