Emerald Harbor is a bay-side neighborhood on the north part of Longboat Key, 2.2 miles from the north end of the island and in Manatee County. The land was first offered for homes in 1959. Today it has 82 landscaped properties of about 0.3 to 0.6 acre, and every one fronts a wide, deep-water canal with access to Sarasota Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway near marker 33.

A single landscaped entrance on Gulf of Mexico Drive serves the neighborhood, and a canal pullover along the exit road is a known spot for watching manatees. Across Gulf of Mexico Drive, a private path leads to a 20-foot-wide Gulf beach frontage with benches for owners and guests. The Emerald Harbor Association, made up of all property owners, maintains the shared areas with annual dues.
